Operating Systems Software

Technology Overview
Every device, server and cloud workload runs on an operating system, and that layer is changing fast. AI agents, demands for sovereign infrastructure and new rules such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act are reshaping what an OS must deliver. This ebook tracks the companies and communities building that foundation.
The range is wide. Enterprise Linux vendors and open-source projects power data centers and hybrid clouds. BSD systems anchor network appliances and embedded products. Real-time operating systems run cars, aircraft, medical devices and factory floors. Mobile platforms span mainstream Android, privacy-hardened builds and low-cost feature-phone systems for emerging markets. Beyond the classic OS, you will find blockchain platforms acting as decentralized computing layers and quantum operating systems that control and error-correct qubits. AI coding assistants, agent platforms, databases, open-source foundations and developer communities round out the picture. If you sell into, invest in or build on core software infrastructure, this is your map.
