Technology Overview
Farming is being rebuilt around data, biology and automation, and the pace is accelerating. Agriculture technology now spans the whole food chain. It includes connected tractors and planters, GPS guidance, soil and irrigation sensors, drone and satellite imaging, and AI agronomy tools. The same push for higher yields from fewer inputs is driving microbial seed treatments, biological nitrogen, gene-edited crops and livestock, and engineered insects for pest control.
The companies in this ebook range widely. Global machinery makers and crop science majors sit alongside national research agencies, universities, venture investors and farm policy coalitions. Specialist startups build autonomous weeders, smart beehives, solar irrigation and cold storage for smallholders, vertical farms and alternative proteins. Their applications run from broadacre row crops and dairy herds to aquaculture, grain storage, carbon markets and fresh-produce supply chains. Together they show where capital, research and adoption are heading.
